Wheat Ridge is a residential suburb close to Denver and one of the last stops before the Rocky Mountains. In the late 1850s, it started as a rest stop for travelers during the Gold Rush, then later became known as “Carnation City” in the mid-1900s. Its convenient location offers easy access to natural attractions, landmarks, and downtown Denver. It is a family-friendly community with its downtown area on West 38th Avenue with a good mix of shops, restaurants, and entertainment.

This trail is incredibly popular for bird watching, hiking, or biking and is considered an easy trail to complete. A remarkable aspect of this trail is that it is a long stretch that connects several cities along the way, from Golden to Commerce City.
